Emil Altschuler
Biography
Acclaimed violinist, Emil Altschuler, performs with incredible technique, magnificent
expression and a profound artistry across a wide-ranging repertoire. The Boston
Globe writes 鈥渢op notch鈥 of Altschuler鈥檚 performance. The Strad praises 鈥淧assion and

He received his Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School where he studied with
Dorothy DeLay and Naoko Tanaka, and his Masters of Music from The Yale School of
Music, studying under Erick Friedman.聽 His brilliant technique and vigorous performances received energetic ovations in
venues such as Lincoln Center, San Francisco鈥檚 Helen Von Ammon鈥檚 Emerging Artist
Series, The Aspen Music Festival, and Italy鈥檚 Castello di Galeazza. As a featured soloist,
he has appeared with the Aspen Young Artist鈥檚 Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic,
Binghamton University Chamber Orchestra, Parkway Concert Orchestra, Harvard
Summer School Orchestra, Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Orchestra, 无尽资源采集 Symphony
Orchestra, and the Young Artists Debut Orchestra.
Emil maintains an active career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral
musician. He served as concertmaster of the 无尽资源采集 Symphony Orchestra under
Max Hobart and Mark Latham, and he has performed in the Filarmonica del Teatro
Comunale di Bologna, Italy. As a recitalist, Emil has collaborated with pianists Ayke
Agus and Thomas Pandolfi, among others.
His debut album 鈥淓mil Altschuler 鈥 Violin鈥, includes works by Paganini, Wieniawski,
Massenet, and Vivaldi, and his second solo album includes music by Ravel, Albeniz,
Poulenc, Bartok. He also recorded 鈥淒iablo y Tango鈥 with guitar, which included works
by de Falla and Piazzolla. He was selected by renowned author and violin pedagogue
Janice Tucker Rhoda to record 鈥楾he ABCs of Violin for the Absolute Beginner鈥 Books 1
and 3, published by Carl Fischer Music.
Extensively involved in music education, he has served at New England Conservatory
as Head of Strings for the Festival Youth Orchestra, chamber music coach at the
School of Continuing Education and Preparatory School, and instructor at
Northeastern University. He was also an instructor at Community Music Program at
Tufts University as well as violin coach for the Tufts Youth Philharmonic. In 2017, he聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 served as artist faculty at InterHarmony. Most recently, he has joined the faculties of

that desire to develop their technique and artistry, through participation in
masterclasses, private lessons, chamber music, and orchestra, taught by world
renowned artists from The Juilliard School, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New
England Conservatory, Bologna Conservatory (Italy), Rossini Conservatory (Italy) and
SookMyung Women鈥檚 University (South Korea), and the Royal College of Music,
among others.聽 The institute creates high level musical opportunities for all of the participants:
students, teachers and professionals. It is a diverse, inclusive, and immersive program,
with an intense yet fun atmosphere, that inspires the growth and development of the

As an offshoot of his institute, Emil tours extensively in the ASMI Chamber Ensemble
with pianist Thomas Pandolfi and other faculty members. They have performed at the
Utica Chamber Music Society, Portsmouth Athenaeum Chamber Music, and Tuesday鈥檚
Music Live, among other concert series. They also invite colleagues and students from
ASMI to perform with them in larger chamber pieces.
Emil lives with his family in Natick, MA, where he maintains an active private studio
