Dear Sprague/PAWS,

Wow!  Sprague students and families were out in full force during Friday鈥檚 Walk/Roll-to-School Day.  Congratulations and thank you to 191 students/families who participated.  Thank you to the parents, and Ms. Flitsch, for making it happen each month.  Rain, snow, sleet, or shine….always a great way to start any day.

The grade five staff and I are very proud of the 5th graders as they completed the first round of MCAS.  Each entered with an 鈥淚 Can Do It鈥� attitude and they did just that.  Go, grade five!

Welcome to spring!  Here鈥檚 hoping the weather continues to improve.  Please enjoy your well-deserved weekend.

Dear Sprague/PAWS,

Welcome back!  It was great to see everyone.

Congratulations to our third grade students as they hosted the all-school meeting held on Wednesday.  The third graders not only had the important job of introducing the 鈥淎 – Acceptance鈥� in HEART, but each also performed a beautiful rendition of This Little Heart of Mine to support and provide an example of acceptance.  Bravo!

Sprague School was randomly selected to participate in NAEP, National Assessment of Educational Progress, testing for nine year old students (3rd and 4th graders).  With the NAEP administrators, approximately 40 of our nine year old students completed either a reading or math assessment on Friday.  Each student worked hard, put their best effort forward, and did their absolute best.  This is all we ever ask for.  Well-done, 3rd and 4th graders!

As we enter a well-deserved weekend, please take the time to rest and recharge.  As we honor Martin Luther King Jr. this holiday weekend, please take a moment to celebrate, honor, and recognize his personal courage and fierce dedication to the Civil Rights Movement.  He was and will continue to be a leader that I strive to be.

• As always, we welcome the opportunity to celebrate Valentine鈥檚 Day with classmates!

• Please remember that we respectfully ask that all students receive a Valentine, if you choose to bring Valentines (optional, of course)

• In line with our Green Schools initiatives, we ask that you do not include any plastic toys with Valentines cards

• If you choose to add something small with the card, we suggest a useful item such as a pencil, an eraser, stickers

• We are a no food zone so please do not bring food into the classroom for celebrations, the Valentine card is sufficient
