Dear Bates Families,

Congratulations on the last day of school! As we close the 2025–2026 school year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who makes Bates such a special place.

To our families: Thank you for partnering with us every step of the way this year.
To our incredible PTO: Thank you for your amazing support and generosity. Because of you, our students enjoyed enriching field trips, creative arts presentations, yearbooks, and so much more.
To our outstanding teachers and staff: Thank you for sharing your passion with our students every day. You work tirelessly to ensure our students are learning and growing!

Today, we celebrate our students and the tremendous growth they have achieved this year. Thank you all for a wonderful year!

Dear Bates Families,

Thank you to Mx. Fyvie and the incredible group of volunteers who led such a wonderful Field Day on Tuesday! From the setup to the final game of Drip Drip Drop, your energy made it a massive success. We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s help.��

Fifth Grade Clap Out

It’s hard to believe Monday is already the last day of school! To celebrate our wonderful fifth graders as they transition to middle school, we will hold our traditional Bates Clap Out. The entire school will line the hallways to cheer them on as they walk through Bates for the very last time.

Families are highly encouraged to attend and join the celebration!

Here are the details:

Date: Monday, June 22��
Time: 11:58 AM
Location: Families are invited to gather on the grass adjacent to the front walkway to cheer on our fifth graders as they exit the building.

Final Report Card & Assessment Scores

Each student’s final report card will be available in PowerSchool on Monday afternoon.

In addition, families will be able to access their child’s end-of-year MAP and DIBELS scores directly within the portal at that time. Please log in to your account next week to review your student’s wonderful progress!

WPS Website and ParentSquare Survey

Please take a moment to share your perspectives about ParentSquare and the district website using. It should take about 5 – 7 minutes to complete. All feedback will be reviewed as part of the upcoming website redesign and to make improvements in how ParentSquare is used by the schools and district.

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow in observance of Juneteenth.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday for our final day of school, which will be a half-day with a noon dismissal.

Honoring Our Beloved Head Custodian, Mr. Bob Hurley

Dear Bates Community,

It is with a mix of deep gratitude and bittersweet hearts that we announce the retirement of our beloved Head Custodian, Mr. Bob Hurley, effective July 2026. Mr. Hurley has dedicated 33 years to the �޾��Դ�ɼ�, including tenures at �޾��Դ�ɼ� High School and Schofield before bringing his incredible talents to Bates.

During his seven years with us, our school has never been in better, more capable hands. Mr. Hurley has cared for our building’s every need with unmatched dedication. Deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of our facility, he has a rare gift for anticipating what we need before we even ask. Whenever an issue does arise, he responds immediately, consistently going above and beyond to ensure our environment is clean, safe, and functioning perfectly. We have always been able to trust that Mr. Hurley is taking the very best care of us.

Beyond his exceptional work ethic, Mr. Hurley is a highly skilled, trained carpenter. His beautiful handiwork is on display all around us, from our library shelves to the recently remodeled faculty lunchroom. He is a master of his craft who is constantly working, strategizing for future projects, and finding ways to improve our space.

Most of all, it is Mr. Hurley’s warmth that has truly shaped our school culture. He made it a point to get to know every single staff member, always greeting us by name and responding to individual needs with care. Just as importantly, he brings so much joy to our students, always greeting them with a smile, an encouraging word, or a joke in the hallways.

While we are incredibly sad to see him go, we are thrilled for him as he begins this next chapter. Please join all of us in thanking Mr. Hurley for his decades of service and wishing him a wonderful, well-deserved retirement!

Dear Bates Families,

While this week’s warm weather and humidity gave us a taste of summer, our students and staff showed amazing flexibility. We kept a close eye on everyone and made adjustments throughout the week to keep the days as comfortable as possible. Thank you to our staff for their creative ideas and dedication to supporting our students. We are all looking forward to the cooler days ahead next week!

Congratulations to the Bates Orchestra, the Bates Beginning and Continuing Bands and the Fifth Grade Chorus for a wonderful performance on Wednesday. Thank you to all who joined us in the audience to cheer on and celebrate these young musicians!

Save the New Date: Kickball & Field Day This Tuesday!

We have a new date for Field Day and the Staff vs. Fifth Grade Kickball Game: Tuesday, June 16! The weather is looking comfortable, and we are ready for an amazing day.

Please help us ensure your child is prepared for the day with the following:
